機械指令の基本的な健康と安全の要件 Essential Health and Safety Requirements (EHSRs) の必須要求事項の中から1.1.6 の「人間工学」について解説します。

1.1.6　人間工学(Ergonomics)
意図された使用において、作業者が直面する不快・疲労および物理的・心理学的なストレスは、次のような人間工学的原則を考慮することにより可能な限り最小化しなければならない：
－作業者の物理的な寸法、強さおよびスタミナの変化性を考慮すること、
－作業者の身体各部位に対する十分な動作空間を確保すること、
－機械により決定される作業速度(a machine-determined work rate)を避けること、
－長い集中力を必要とする監視作業を避けること、
－人と機械のインターフェースを予見可能な作業者の特性に合わせること。

1.1.6.   Ergonomics

Under the intended conditions of use, the discomfort, fatigue and physical and psychological stress faced by the operator must be reduced to the minimum possible, taking into account ergonomic principles such as:

—allowing for the variability of the operator's physical dimensions, strength and stamina,

—providing enough space for movements of the parts of the operator's body,

—avoiding a machine-determined work rate,

—avoiding monitoring that requires lengthy concentration,

—adapting the man/machinery interface to the foreseeable characteristics of the operators.
